Your children are so important to us and we strive to make sure that everyone who comes into contact with them at our school shares our philosophies, is well trained, and loves children.
We are licensed by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) and all employees under go an extensive background check. Our background checks are done by both the Alabama Buerau of Investigation (ABI) and the Federal Buereau of Investigation (FBI).
In addition to background checks all employees receive over fifteen hours of specialized training each year.
We are proud to have such a wonderful team of dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic teachers. We invite you to get to know your child's teachers.
Melissa Terrell, AMS
Little House Lead Directress
Melissa Terrell joined our Montessori Academy Community in February of 2006 as an Assistant Teacher in the Little House.
She previously worked as a preschool teacher in a local childcare program.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in General Studies.
In 2012, Melissa received her American Montessori Society (AMS) Infant/Toddler eachCertification. She is currently the Little House Lead Directress.
Anita Carson
Little House 18- Lead Teacher/Morning Supervisor
Anita Carson joined our Montessori Academy Community in February of 2004 as an Assistant Teacher.
Before joining our staff Anita was a flight attendant for Bangladesh Airways. She holds a Bachelors of Art in Liberal Arts.
Anita currently serves as our Morning Supervisor and Lead Teacher in the Little House.
Carmen Hamell
Little House Assistant Teacher
Carmen Hamell has been a part of our Montessori Academy Community since October of 2004. She attended the Fernandez Bilingual Institute. Carmen currentlyworks with the 18 + children in the Little House. Before joining our staff she was employed by Kinedyne Corporation.
Gert Myrick
Little House Assisant Teacher
Gert Myrick has been a part of out Montessori Academy Community since February of 2007. She attended Riley College & John Patterson Technical College. She currently works with the 18+ children in the Little House. Before joining our staff she was a teacher's aide at McInnis Center.

Michelle Gilchrist, NAMC
Pre-Primary Lead Directress
Ms. Michelle Gilchrist joined our Montessori Academy Community in 2010. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from AUM in 2008. Michelle also earned her North American Montessori Certification in 2008. Michelle previously worked as an teacher assistant for three years before receiving her Montessori Certification.
Elizabeth Danson
Pre-Primary Assisant Teacher/Afternoon Supervisor
Elizabeth Danson joined our Montessori Academy Community in August of 2012 as an Assistant Teacher. Elizabeth is a graduate from Auburn University. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. She is currently working on her Masters of Science in Collabritive Special Ed.
Ms. Jenn Lockwood has been a part of our Montessori Academy Community since 2005. She began working as a teacher's assistant in the Little House and moved to the Pre Primary House in 2007.
Danielle Lenier, AMS
Blue Primary Lead Directress
Danielle Lenier joined our Montessori Academy Community in 2002 as an Afternoon Teacher in the White Victorian; shortly after, she became an Assistant Teacher in the Blue Primary classroom. Throughout her career here at Montessori Academy, she has taught the Montessori PM class, and served as the Afternoon Supervisor.
In 2006, Danielle received her American Montessori Society (AMS) Teaching Certification. She is currently the Blue Primary Lead Directress.
Lacia Phillips
Blue Primary Assistant Teacher
Lacia Phillips joined our Montessori Academy Community in April of 2011 as an Assistant Teacher in the Pre-Primary class and is currently an Assistant Teacher in the Blue Primary.
Lacia comes to us from the Autauga County School System were she was a substitute teacher for over three year and spent numerous years volunteering. She attended Troy University and completed an Early Childhood education course in California while serving in the Air National Guard.
In addition to her work with Autauga County School system, Ms. Lacia has taught Sunday School to preschool children for over fifteen years.
RaShaunda Jones
Blue Primary Assistant Teacher
RaShaunda Jones joined our Montessori Academy Community in the April 0f 2012 as an Assistant Teacher in the Little House and is currently the afternoon Assistant Teacher in White Victorian.
RaShaunda comes to us from Auguaga County School System where she was a substitute teacher for over five years. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education.
Erin Kilgore, AMS
Yellow Primary Lead Directress
Ms. Erin Kilgore has been working at Montessori Academy since 2002. She began as a teacher in the Little House, and soon moved to the primary classroom in the White Victorian. In 2006, she received her American Montessori Society (AMS) Teaching Certification.
Ms. Janet Mills joined Montessori Academy in May 2011 after spending 13 years in the retail business. For the past 5 years, she has taught Sunday School and Children’s Church.
Shiquita Myrick (Kee Kee), AMS
Red Primary Lead Directress
Shiquita Myrick (Kee Kee) joined our Montessori Academy in 2008 as an Afternoon Teacher. Kee Kee has served as Afternoon Supervisor and an Assistant Teacher in the White Victorian.
In 2011, Kee Kee received her American Montessori Society (AMS) teaching certificate. She is currently the Red Primary Lead Directress.
Emily Beth Dickinson
Montessori PM Teacher/ Red Primary Assisant Teacher
Ms. Emily Beth Dickinson joined our Montessori Academy Community in January of 2012 as the Montessori PM Teacher and Afternoon Supervisor. Emily Beth is currently the Montessori PM Teacher and Assistant Teacher in Red Primary.
Emily Beth comes to us from The Montgomery Academy were she worked as the Coordinator of Donor Stewartship over the Student Ambassador Program.
Emily Beth holds a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in History from Huntingdon, Alabama.
Director of Admissions- Rhonda Goff-Barton
Rhonda Goff-Barton has been a part of our Montessori Academy Community since 2005. She attended Perkinston Junior College in Missippi and Saint Mary College in Xavier, Kansas. Rhonda brings over twenty-two years of experience with her. Before joining our Montessori Acedemy Community, she worked with children at Leon Lard Art Gallery and Fine Oil Portraits. It was her love of children that brought her to our Montessori Academy Community. Rhonda has also worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Data Processing at Baptist South, as the Assistant to the President of Colonial Insurance supervisor of EDS Federal and Assistant to the leasing Agents for Jim Wilson Associates and Aronov Leasing.
